THE ANGUISH KENYAN STUDENTS ARE FACING IN WUHAN DUE TO CORONA VIRUS

It is beyond and reasonable dout Corona virus  is currently  the most feared menace right now, currently affecting 65 countries around the world . Corona virus had by February 7,2020 killed 638 people and infected over 31, 000 with most of the victims from mainland China but even knowing all this the country has not taken to account to evacuate the 75 students who are stranded in Wuhan, the city that is the epicenter  of the Corona Virus.
Foreign Affairs Principal secretary Kamau Macharia restated the government the governments position that it would not evacuate the students saying that  "they are  safe where they are". This is after the Kenyan students in Wuhan through their lobby group leader wrote a letter to the foreign affairs office asking for urgent intervention stating that they are running out of food supplies and facing psychological torture.
Countries like the United  States, Germany and even Australia have already evacuated their students who were in Wuhan .It is quite disappointing to see our government not caring about the welfare of its people. The students there are facing a lot of challenges , as it is we all are scared and worried about this pandemic that has struck the world but at the brighter side we are all together in this. One can imagine what the 75 students are facing in a foreign country  are facing alone with no one to take care of them.Imagine of the anguish the family back home feels knowing what there children must be facing and not having the power to do anything about it.The students have to make their on way around this and try to stay alive all this just because they decided to take a risk in education and study in a foreign country .Its ironic how we say that education is the key ,but right now those 75 students don't  feel it being a key but the reason as to why they are still in Wuhan and not at home where it is safe in their motherland.
"......To date, the embassy has not responded to our letter nor  the raised concerns. We are in total darkness .Worse of it all with each passing day the situation in Wuhan is getting unbearable, some of our student are totally without food while some are  going into depression due to fear and uncertainty surrounding this issue ,"said the letter signed by officials of the Kenyan Students Association in Wuhan.

Its time the government steps up and takes its responsibilities seriously ,we may all be scared of the final outcome of this deadly virus but i believe we have to face it head on and not our other people out there suffer just because they are there.We have to take care of each other in all times and i pray the government may came to the aid of this students, even if it will not evacuate the students but help those students not feel alone or left out by their own country.
